GOOGLE GLASS ' COMES TO' CONTACT LENS

WASHINGTON: Researchers have created a Google Glass-like device on a contact lens.

According to Technology Review, the team developed a "transparent, highly conductive, and stretchy mix of graphene and silver nanowires" that it then attached to an off-the-shelf soft contact lens to give it Google Glass-like features, Fox News reported.

The lenses were tested on rabbits because of similarities with the human eye and were found to be fully functional.

The researchers noted that the rabbits didn't attempt to rub their eyes nor did they grow bloodshot after five hours of testing.

"Our goal is to make a wearable contact lens display that can do all the things Google Glass can do," research leader Jang-Ung Park, a chemical engineer at the Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology, said.

True smart contacts with heads-up displays are still quite a few years out, however - the "display" on the tested lens was only one pixel.

GENERATION OF COMPUTER

In the late 1960s and early 1970s, there was much talk about "generations" of computer hardware — usually "three generations".
  1. First generation: Vacuum tubes. Mid-1940s. IBM pioneered the arrangement of vacuum tubes in pluggable modules. The IBM 650 was a first-generation computer.
  2. Second generation: Transistors. 1956. The era of miniaturization begins. Transistors are much smaller than vacuum tubes, draw less power, and generate less heat. Discrete transistors are soldered to circuit boards, with interconnections accomplished by stencil-screened conductive patterns on the reverse side. The IBM 7090 was a second-generation computer.
  3. Third generation: Integrated circuits (silicon chips containing multiple transistors). 1964. A pioneering example is the ACPX module used in the IBM 360/91, which, by stacking layers of silicon over a ceramic substrate, accommodated over 20 transistors per chip; the chips could be packed together onto a circuit board to achieve unheard-of logic densities. The IBM 360/91 was a hybrid second- and third-generation computer.
Omitted from this taxonomy is the "zeroth-generation" computer based on metal gears (such as the IBM 4077 or mechanical relays (such as the Mark I), and the post-third-generation computers based on Very Large Scale Integrated (VLSI) circuits.
There was also a parallel set of generations for software:
  1. First generationMachine language.
  2. Second generationAssembly language.
  3. Third generation: Structured programming languages such as CCOBOL and FORTRAN.
  4. Fourth generation: Domain-specific languages such as SQL (for database access) and TeX (for text formatting)The
  5. Fifth Generation Computer Systems project (FGCS) was an initiative by Japan's Ministry of International Trade and Industry, begun in 1982, to create a computer using massively parallel computing/processing. It was to be the result of a massive government/industry research project in Japan during the 1980s. It aimed to create an "epoch-making computer" with-supercomputer-like performance and to provide a platform for future developments in artificial intelligence.
The term "fifth generation" was intended to convey the system as being a leap beyond existing machines. In the history of computing hardware, computers using vacuum tubes were called the first generation;transistors and diodes, the second; integrated circuits, the third; and those using microprocessors, the fourth. Whereas previous computer generations had focused on increasing the number of logic elements in a single CPU, the fifth generation, it was widely believed at the time, would instead turn to massive numbers of CPUs for added performance.
The project was to create the computer over a ten-year period, after which it was considered ended and investment in a new "sixth generation" project would begin. Opinions about its outcome are divided: either it was a failure, or it was ahead of its time.

THE FATHER OF COMPUTER

Charles Babbage, FRS (26 December 1791 – 18 October 1871) was an English polymath. He was a mathematician, philosopher, inventor and mechanical engineer, who is best remembered now for originating the concept of a programmable computer.
Considered a "father of the computer", Babbage is credited with inventing the first mechanical computer that eventually led to more complex designs. His varied work in other fields has led him to be described as "pre-eminent" among the many polymaths of his century.
Parts of Babbage's uncompleted mechanisms are on display in the London Science Museum. In 1991, a perfectly functioning difference engine was constructed from Babbage's original plans. Built to tolerances achievable in the 19th century, the success of the finished engine indicated that Babbage's machine would have worked.

Hide Files in picture

  • You may have used DOS's command line copy method but you might not have know that we can use Copy command to hide our files behind any picture or any other files. The following post will show you how to hide important files behind any picture or wallpaper.
  • We will need Win RAR installed for following trick.Create a RAR of files which you have to hide. ex. "my-files.rar".
  • Take a picture/wallpaper you want your files to be hidden behind. ex. "lady-gaga.jpeg"
  • Move both files(myfiles.rar and wallpaper) in a temporary folder; say "d:\temp".
  • Open command prompt and make your prompt to path "d:\temp>".
  • Then type following command Carefully;"copy /b lady-gaga.jpeg + my-files.rar output.jpeg" without quotes, and press enter.
  • This command will make output.jpeg by combining both lady-gaga.jpeg and my-files.rar files.
  • If you double click on output file it will open the picture associated with it, i.e lady-gaga.jpeg here, and if you want to open your rar files just open the output files with win-rar application.
